Community Bluegrass Jam Sets Stage For Dry Branch Fire Squad

TAHLEQUAH The Sequoyah Institute at Northeastern State University will host a Community Bluegrass Jam on Saturday, May 3 from 3-5 p.m. at Norris Park in Downtown Tahlequah prior to the performance of Dry Branch Fire Squad.

Theres no better way to get in the mood for an evening of bluegrass music than spending a couple hours pickin and grinnin in the park with players from across the area under the bright sunshine, said Megan White, director of the Sequoyah Institute. Anyone can bring their instruments to join in the jam session, or just bring a lawn chair or blanket to sit on and enjoy some great music.

The Community Bluegrass Jam is free and open to the public.

Following the Community Bluegrass Jam, join the Sequoyah Institute for a performance by Dry Branch Fire Squad at 7:30 p.m. in the NSU Center for the Performing Arts. The performance is the final show in the 22nd Annual Galaxy of Stars Series.

Tickets for Dry Branch Fire Squad are $20 for adults, $18 for NSU alumni, $16 for NSU employees, $14 for senior citizens, $12 for groups of 10 or more, $10 for students and children, and $5 for NSU students. To purchase tickets for the performance, contact the NSU Box Office at 918-458-2075.

The performance is presented by the NSU Sequoyah Institute, is sponsored by Advantage Audiology, and supported by the Oklahoma Arts Council and the National Endowment for the Arts.
