Cassie Freise

Bio

Cassie Freise, instructor of media studies, has taught full time at Northeastern State University for 20 years. Freise serves as director of student media and adviser to the award-winning student media outlet, The Northeastern. The Northeastern serves not only the campus community, but also alumni throughout the nation.

Freise leads with a student-centered approach and serves as faculty adviser for the media studies program. Her work focuses on mentoring students through hands-on experiential learning opportunities in journalism, advertising, photography, digital media and student leadership.

Freise has been recognized with numerous honors, including the 2024 Model the Way Award, the 2023 NSU Undergraduate Faculty Mentor of the Year Award, the 2022 Society of Professional Journalists Journalism Teacher of the Year Award, the 2021 Tiffany Maher Legacy Award and the 2019 Top 10 RiverHawk Award.
