Bio
I joined the NSU OT faculty in the summer of 2022 as a full-time Assistant Professor
of Occupational Therapy and Academic Fieldwork Coordinator. I have practiced occupational
therapy since graduating with my Masters degree in OT from Rockhurst University, Kansas
City, MO in 1996. I have practiced in multiple settings, working with a variety of
populations, much of which was in rural settings in Oklahoma. I have extensive management
experience which includes developing occupational therapy programs in different settings,
including hospitals and home health, as well as several years of teaching experience
at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, including serving as the program director
of an occupational therapy assistant program. I love being an ambassador and advocate
for the profession of Occupational Therapy, promoting OTs role in improving community
health, and for increasing utilization of OT services for the underserved, especially
in rural communities.
My research interests are in the areas of community health and occupational engagement,
tribal health, culture and spirituality in occupational therapy, inter-professional
education, and using music and the arts in therapy practice.
My teaching interests include anything occupational therapy related, especially research,
client care skills, movement, culture and spirituality in occupational therapy, and
incorporating the arts into occupational therapy practice, music in particular.
