Bio
Dr. Debra M. Sellers serves as Associate Dean and Professor in the College of Science and Health Professions at Northeastern State University. Drawing on over 15 years of industry experience as a practitioner in gerontology and various healthcare settings, her research focuses on adaptive living for older adults and individuals with disabilities.Before joining the leadership team at NSU, she built an extensive background in higher education administration and instruction. She previously served in two associate dean roles at Iowa State University, was an Extension State Specialist at Kansas State University, and taught as an instructor at Oregon State University-Cascades.
Dr. Sellers earned her Ph.D. from Kansas State University, her master's and bachelor's degrees from the University of Florida, and her occupational therapy assistant certification from Barton College (KS).
Beyond her academic and administrative duties, she loves to hike and raise puppies for a service dog organization.
Fun Fact: Early in her practitioner career, Dr. Sellers had the unique opportunity to work with a long-term care resident who was the world's oldest person at age 116.
