Bio
Dr. Burch is a Professor of Educational Leadership. She teaches action research, advanced
educational measurements (assessment), teaching methods, and the Instructional Leadership
Thesis/Capstone Experience. Dr. Burch earned a Ph.D. in Curriculum & Instruction with
a cognate in science education from the University of Arkansas. She also has master's
degrees in both biology (plant ecology) and early childhood education. Dr. Burch is
certified by the American Montessori Society as an early childhood (pre-primary) teacher.
In addition to teaching in Montessori schools and running one for over a decade, she
served as an education outreach coordinator for the state, creating and implementing
water quality and water safety programs, and worked as a field biologist conducting
plant surveys and monitoring American Burying Beetle populations. Dr. Burch's research
interests include nature of science, science with young children and assessment methods.
