Bio

Dr. Sarah Lowman is an Assistant Professor of Spanish at Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, OK. Her research analyzes the representation of the environment as it intersects with Nahua identity, cultural activism, and political ecology in contemporary Nahua literature from Mexico. She earned her Ph.D. in Hispanic Studies from the University of Georgia in 2017 and joined the NSU Spanish Program in August of that year. She also completed her M.A. in Hispanic Linguistics and B.A. in Spanish and History at the University of Georgia. She has taught all levels Spanish language instruction as well as courses on Latin American literature, culture, film, and professional Spanish. She has worked with study abroad programs in Costa Rica and Spain.
