Bio
Dr. Johnson has experience as a teacher, scholar, and journalist. She worked as a
professional journalist before returning to school for her PhD. She is originally
from West Virginia and is an eternal fan of the Marshal University Thundering Herd.

Dr. Johnson's research focuses on embodied rhetorics, particularly the ways in which
society establishes normality and otherness in bodies. Other interests include the
rhetorical canon of delivery, gender studies, digital and visual rhetoric, and British
literature, particularly women writers.
Dr. Johnson's teaching interests include rhetoric and composition courses, particularly
classes that focus on rhetoric, including embodied rhetorics; gender studies; and
First-Year Composition. She is qualified to teach history of rhetoric, composition,
and 19th Century British literature.
