Dr. Liu has been the Director and Principle Investigator of his cancer research laboratory since he became Assistant Professor (tenure-track) at Penn State University in 2006. He was Associate Professor and Principle Investigator at Washington State University from 2013-2019. Dr. Liu's laboratory identified important mechanisms by which neurons and cancer cells regulate cell survival (Liu and Greene Neuron 2001; Liu et al., GenesDev 2005; Liu et al., MCB 2011; Madarampalli Cell 2015; Yuan et al., JBC 2018). Dr. Liu's research has been supported by grants from National Institute of Health, US Department of Defense, and American Cancer Society.

Dr. David Liu’s laboratory studies the molecular and cellular mechanisms that control cell proliferation, survival, genomic stability, and the organization of subcellular structures. His publications include JBC 2018 (PMID 29326161), Cell 2015 (PMID 26213385), Genes&Dev 2005 (PMID 11709154).
