TAHLEQUAH – The Northeastern State University College of Science and Technology Department of Chemistry recently presented Joshua Coats, of Salina, with the CRC Press Freshman Achievement Award for outstanding academic achievement in first-year chemistry.
The CRC Press Freshman Achievement Award is presented at more than 2,000 universities and colleges across the nation. Winning students receive a complimentary copy of the “CRC Handbook of Chemistry and Physics” and a commemorative scroll to be mounted on the inside front cover.
Founded as the Chemical Rubber Company, CRC originally manufactured and distributed laboratory supplies for chemists. It first distributed its Handbook of Chemistry and Physics free as a bonus incentive to customers who purchased a rubber apron, one of the company’s signature items. The “CRC Handbook of Chemistry and Physics” remains the definitive reference for chemists, physicists, and engineers throughout the world. CRC Press is a preeminent publisher in life science, medicine, pharmaceutical science, food science, environmental science, forensic science, engineering, business, technology, mathematics, and statistics.
Joshua, a Chemistry major, is a member of the NSU Honors Program and plans on attending dental school upon graduation from Northeastern.
