NSU Jazz Director presents album release workshop and concert – Oct. 4

(Tahlequah, Oklahoma) - Northeastern State University Jazz Director John Petrucelli will host the “Presence” Album Release Workshop and Concert Oct. 4 at the NSU Jazz Lab. The workshop will begin at 5 p.m. and the concert will begin at 7 p.m.

The workshop is sponsored by the NSU Department of Music and presented by the NSU Jazz Program.

Hailed by allaboutjazz.com as “a saxophone heavyweight,” Petrucelli has followed up his 2015 debut album “The Way,” with the ambitious album “Presence,” which was recorded live at Pittsburgh’s New Hazlett Theater.

Music and musicians from Petrucelli’s newest album will be featured throughout the workshop and concert.

The workshop is a community outreach event and improvisation workshop with the NSU Jazz Program and guest artists Raul Reyes Bueno, Gusten Rudolph and Peter Park with Tahlequah High School, Wagoner High School, Keys High School and Tulsa Community College. This event is free and open to the public.

The concert will feature Petrucelli as composer and saxophone player, Park on guitar, Reyes Bueno on bass and Rudolph on drums. Admission to the concert is $5 and all proceeds benefit the Jazz Program.
