By NSU Staff

(Tahlequah, Okla.)--Enrollment is now open for the “Retooling for 21st Century Health Delivery Systems” certification program, which upon successful completion will allow students to earn a specialized Healthcare Contemporary Issues certification.

The three-part certification is ideal for physicians’ executives, healthcare leaders, insurers, employers and consumers, and will focus on three topics: Population Health Improvement Strategies—The New Imperative, Essential Traits of Great Leaders for the 21st Century and Building a Thriving Accountable Care Program and Collaborative Care Initiatives

Each course will consist of eight online sessions and will be considered as 25 contact hours, translating to 2.5 to 3.0 CEUs granted by NSU.

In order to complete the certifications, students will be required to enroll in all three courses. Population Health Improvement Strategies—The New Imperative will run from March 5 to May 7, Essential Traits of Great Leaders for the 21st Century will run from March 3 to May 5, and Building a Thriving Accountable Care Program and Collaborative Care Initiatives will be offered from March 4 to May 6.

The cost for each course in the program series is $400, which will include all of the required learning materials and textbooks. Optional textbooks will be available at a discount for an additional cost to students; however, all required material will be available electronically through the NSU Library portal.

Mark G. Tozzio, FACHE, an expert with 33 years of senior administrative experience in critical areas of strategy, business development and planning in diverse healthcare environments will teach the certification program. Tozzio has a diverse professional background in the healthcare industry and is currently the president and senior consultant for HPPD, Inc. in Broken Arrow.

“These are challenging times for any leader in the healthcare field. Perhaps this is one of the reasons that healthcare CEO turnover is at an all-time high,” said Tozzio. “I am excited to partner with Dr. Eloy Chavez and his team to instruct the new Certificate Program for healthcare leaders and physician executives. The contemporary issues that leaders in healthcare face require a new approach and way or thinking that our courses will offer to participants.”
