NSU music faculty conduct benefit recital Sept. 18

(Tahlequah, Okla.)—Music faculty at Northeastern State University will present their gala recital on Sept. 18 to benefit the music department.

The event, at the Jazz Lab, begins with a silent auction at 2 p.m. with the recital following at 3.

“All of the university music faculty will perform,” said Dr. Anne Watson, assistant professor of music. “The audience will be treated to an array of styles and types of music, such as classical, chamber music and jazz.”

Tickets are $20, $35 per couple, $10 for students and available for advance purchase or at the door. A student ID must be presented for discount admission.

Admission includes access to the silent auction, the afternoon performance and desserts and coffee. Items for the silent auction are donated from area businesses and individuals. There will be an array of offerings and something for everyone.

“This is a rare opportunity to enjoy the high-quality musicianship of NSU’s music instructors in a single recital,” Watson said. “We normally perform in venues around the country in small ensembles or in a solo recital, but rarely do we ever perform on the same program. We also invite attendees to meet and talk with us before and after the event. We want people to get to know us and what we do here at NSU.”

All proceeds from the gala will go toward recruiting efforts for the NSU Department of Music.

“We have several exciting programs planned throughout the year that will draw students from around the region to our campus,” Watson said. “The gala proceeds offset costs associated with those programs.”

For more information or to purchase tickets contact Dr. Anne Watson (918) 444-2723 or the music department at (918) 444-2700.
