NSU Singers to present "Lessons and Carols"

The Northeastern State University Singers present “Lessons and Carols” at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 2, at First United Methodist Church, 300 W. Delaware St.

The program features readings by NSU President Don Betz, Tahlequah Mayor Ken Purdy, Cherokee Principal Chief Chad Smith, Rev. Dr. Allen Schneider, Rev. Deborah Jennings and Rev. Clint Collins followed by music celebrating the Christmas season. The program includes choral works by J.S. Bach, Tomas Luis de Victoria, Heitor Villa-Lobos, William Billings, John Jacob Niles, Arvo Part, Boris Ord, Christopher Tye and Peter Cornelius. Traditional carols will also be sung by the singers.

The concert will be accompanied by Dr. Mark Bighley, organist, Judy Young, recorder, and the NSU Brass Quartet. The performance will be conducted by Dr. Donald Studebaker, director of the NSU Singers.
