Committee: Civic Engagement Council

Representatives from across campus including the American Democracy Project, Student Affairs, each academic college, Herb Rozell Scholars (Big Event), NSGA, and Athletics. Interested campus community members beyond the identified representatives are encouraged to attend council meetings.

The purpose of the council is to strategically integrate civic engagement through the following:

  1. Identifying university-wide goals related to student participation in civic engagement;
  2. Developing university-wide student learning objective(s) linked to civic engagement;
  3. Creating or identifying tracking or documentation mechanisms to record engagement with the community;
  4. Developing a systematic campus-wide assessment mechanism to measure the impact of institutional engagement;
  5. Working in collaboration with academic units to provide professional development support for faculty, staff, and students who engage with community;
  6. Providing advice and input into institutional planning for community engagement; and
  7. Serving as a central communication hub for civic engagement activity occurring throughout campus.

Meetings are held at least twice per semester. This committee reports to the Vice President for Student Affairs and minutes are sent to that office.
