Q. What Counseling Services does the Office of Student Affairs offer?
A. Counseling Services include:
· Short-term individual counseling and assessment by a Licensed Professional Counselor (free of charge) to all Northeastern State University students
· Referrals to campus and community resources
· Educational outreach and prevention programs
Q. Who can benefit from Counseling Servcies?
A. Any student who is struggling to adjust to campus life, feels depressed or anxious, is suffering from grief or loss, or just needs to talk!
Q. How do I make an appointment to see the counselor?
A. During regular office hours any student can make an appointment by calling the Office of Student Affairs. If available you can speak to the counselor directly, otherwise just leave your contact information with the desk attendant and the counselor will return your call as soon as possible.
Q. How much will it cost?
A. Counseling is free to all current students.
Q. What else can you tell me about counseling through the Office of Student Affairs?
A. The Office of Student Affairs provides counseling that usually consists of 6-10 weekly sessions. Students who may require long-term counseling will be referred to appropriate off-campus services. Sessions are done on a one-on-one basis and can help with a variety of problems ranging from depression and anxiety to relationship problems, stress, or school related issues.
