Excellent Academic Programs: NSU Prepares Students to Meet Career Challenges

TAHLEQUAH - With graduates excelling every year in their chosen career fields, Northeastern State University takes great pride in providing quality academic programs to students on their way to success.
NSU received accolades for offering excellent academic programs in a recent online survey.
An overwhelming 86 percent of 2,200 participants from a cross-section of alumni, students, employees, supporters, and community members indicated that Northeastern is responsive to the area's educational needs, offering degree programs, graduate studies and certification courses that are in demand by today's workforce. Respondents view these programs as corresponding to the needs for the communities NSU serves.
With nearly 100 degrees already offered at the institution's three campuses in Tahlequah, Muskogee, and Broken Arrow, NSU is planning to add more undergraduate and graduate level programs. Northeastern is also home to one of only 17 colleges of optometry across the nation, offering a bachelor of Vision Science and Doctor of Optometry degrees.
With enrollment of more than 9,000 students, Northeastern's programs continue to prepare graduates for the challenges of their chosen careers. A total of 77 percent of survey respondents agreed that NSU classes provide better employment opportunities.
According to statistics from a report by the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education, bachelor's degree holders generally earn 24 to 32 percent more than individuals with associates degrees, with an average salary of $35,600 five years after graduation.
Students with college degrees are better able to adapt to the changing technology and high-speed pace of today's workforce. A total of 89 percent of survey respondents said that NSU degrees provide better employment value than not having a degree.
