The Rozell Scholar program was established to honor the outstanding works and deeds of Retired Senator Herb Rozell who dedicated 28 years of public service to the people of District 3 and the state of Oklahoma.
Each year, the program recognizes two NSU undergraduates who, while enrolled at NSU, have demonstrated exceptional campus and community leadership, outstanding scholastic achievement, and exhibit a commitment to excellence for the future. Funded by private donations to the NSU Foundation, the program provides $1,000 per semester for the Scholars to use toward their educational expenses. In addition, each recipient will receive funding to attend the LeaderShape Institute in Allerton, IL.
The Rozell Scholars serve as representatives of NSU and its student body at numerous social, civic, and educational events throughout the year. They also coordinate The Big Event at NSU.
To be eligible for the program, students must have completed 90 hours by the end of the spring semester, maintained a 3.25 grade-point average, expect to attend NSU for two additional semesters, and anticipate earning their baccalaureate degrees within the next three semesters.
A complete application (pdf) should be returned to Student Affairs (Administration Building room 204) no later than 5 p.m. on Friday, March 28, 2008. Paper applications are also available in Student Affairs or the University Center, Student Activities Office.
