Academic Advisement

All students are expected to meet with their advisor prior to enrollment each semester to plan their academic schedule. New freshmen students and new transfer students are initially assigned to The First-Year Experience Center for academic advisement. Once the student has completed English Comp. I and earned at least 15 credit hours, he/she may declare a major and be assigned an advisor in their major. The student should meet with the advisor early in their academic career to develop a DEGREE PLAN. The degree plan is approved by the advisor and dean of the college where it will be kept in the student’s file. Degree plans are valid as long as the student is continuously enrolled. Students are responsible for checking prerequisites for courses in which they plan to enroll and following the degree plan in completing courses needed for the degree. Once the student has completed 85 credit hours, they are expected to apply for a FINAL DEGREE AUDIT in the Office of Admissions and Records. In all cases, the final degree audit must be completed prior to the last semester of enrollment.
