YES! Northeastern - an OHLAP Partnership

Northeastern State University has recently developed a new scholarship program to assist incoming students participating in the Oklahoma Higher Learning Access Program (OHLAP). YES! Northeastern will supplement OHLAP, federal financial aid, and other gift aid if needed to ensure that OHLAP participating students will receive the funding necessary to pay for tuition, mandatory fees and up to a $1000 annual university allowance to pay for other university expenses.

Eligibility Requirements:

  1. Student must be regularly admitted as an incoming freshman and enroll in at least 12 hours at Northeastern State University for the Fall 2008 semester.
  2. Student must have a minimum composite ACT score of 19.
  3. Student must be eligible to receive OHLAP funding.
  4. Student must complete and submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) by March 1, 2008.
  5. Student must take adequate coursework to be on pace to graduate in four years.

Northeastern for four years (fall and spring semester only) as long as they maintain satisfactory academic progress (defined as completing an average of 30 credit hours per academic year and maintaining a minimum grade point average of at least 2.5), continue to receive OHLAP funding and apply for federal financial aid each year by March 1.

YES! Northeastern Explained:
YES! Northeastern is a scholarship intended to fill funding gaps that exist when OHLAP and other forms of aid (grants, scholarships) do not cover full tuition up to 15 hours per semester, mandatory fees and up to $1000 university allowance. The allowance (up to $500 per semester) may be used for other university charges. Examples of these charges can include University Housing or charges accrued in the University Bookstore. Course related fees such as laboratory, remedial, or online fees are not covered by this scholarship. Please note OHLAP will not apply to student accounts until mid-semester (October in the fall, March in the spring). Students will not see that OHLAP funding has applied to their balance until that point. Because the financial situation of each student is different, the award amount of YES! Northeastern will vary. Several examples are listed to the left. Please keep in mind these are only examples.
