NSU Scholarships for Freshmen

Academic Scholars

Students automatically qualify for the Academic Scholars Program by being named a Presidential Scholar by the U.S. Department of Education, a National Merit Scholar or National Merit Finalist, or by scoring in the 99th percentile of the American College Testing Program. In addition to automatic qualifiers, five additional academic scholars are selected each year. The recipients of these five scholarships must meet at least two of the following requirements: 1) have a composite ACT score of 30 or higher , 2) 3.8 or higher high school GPA, 3) be ranked in the top 4% of their senior class. Applications are available in the Office of Scholarships, the Office of Student Financial Services, and all branch campus offices.

Baccalaureate Scholars

Each year fifteen outstanding entering freshmen are selected as Baccalaureate Scholars. Eligibility is based on an ACT composite score of 30 or higher, 3.5 high school GPA, exceptional class rank, or status as a National Merit Semifinalist or Commended Student. Applications are available in the Office of Scholarships, the Office of Student Financial Services, and all branch campus offices.

Collegiate Scholars

The Collegiate Scholarship is offered to entering freshmen with an ACT composite score of 27 or higher and a 3.5 high school GPA. Award is applied toward tuition only and does not cover other enrollment fees, books, or room & board.

Freshman Scholars

This scholarship is awarded to entering freshman with an ACT composite score of 22-24 and a high school GPA of 3.25 or higher. The amount of the scholarship varies according to academic performance. Award is applied toward tuition only and does not cover other enrollment fees, books, or room & board.

Green and White Scholars

This scholarship is offered to incoming freshmen with an ACT composite score of 22 or 25 and a high school GPA of 3.25 or higher. Award is applied toward tuition only and does not cover other enrollment fees, books, or room & board.

In order to receive second year of scholarship, the student must complete 24 credit hours at NSU with a minimum GPA of 3.25.

NSU Alumni Legacy Scholarship

This scholarship is for the freshman year at NSU. Qualified applicants must be high school seniors with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. Although the scholarship is available for all students, preference will be given to applicants who are the children of active NSU Alumni Association members. Recipients must be full-time NSU students. Additional information and applications are available in the Office of Scholarships, Office of Student Financial Services, and all branch campus offices.

President's Leadership Class

The President's Leadership Class is a unique leadership/scholarship program designed to cultivate outstanding potential in proven student leaders. Applicants for the PLC should display outstanding leadership capabilities and must have an exceptionally strong academic record. High-school seniors invited to enter the PLC last year had a median ACT composite score of 20 or higher. Applications are available in the Office of Scholarships, the Office of Student Financial Services, and all branch campus offices.

University Scholars

This scholarship is offered to entering freshmen with an ACT composite score of 26 or higher and a high school GPA of 3.0-3.49. Award is applied toward tuition only and does not cover other enrollment fees, books, or room & board.

Valedictorian Scholars

This scholarship is awarded to incoming freshmen who hold the honor of being the valedictorian of their high school graduating class. To qualify for this scholarship freshmen must have a class rank of 1 and an ACT composite score of 20 or higher. Award is applied toward tuition only and does not cover other enrollment fees, books, or room & board.

YES! Northeastern - an OHLAP Partnership

Northeastern State University has recently developed a new scholarship program to assist incoming students participating in the Oklahoma Higher Learning Access Program (OHLAP). YES! Northeastern will supplement OHLAP, federal financial aid, and other gift aid if needed to ensure that OHLAP participating students will receive the funding necessary to pay for tuition, mandatory fees and up to a $1000 annual university allowance to pay for other university expenses.
