Courier Services and Mail Delivery

The NSU Drop Zone delivers all mail on the Tahlequah campus and inter-campus mail and packages to the Muskogee and Broken Arrow Campuses Monday through Friday except holidays.

Courier Service

The Drop Zone's Courier Service operates between the Tahlequah campus, NSUM and NSU-BA. It is a one-way, mail room-to-mail room, service for same-day delivery of material going from Tahlequah to Muskogee or Broken Arrow Campus departments.

Using the Service

  • · Place items for courier delivery in a specially-marked interoffice envelope.
  • · Address the envelope with the recipient's name and campus address. For packages, write on the box. Items other than regular mail or packages should be well-marked in a secure manner.
  • · Please be sure the address is legible.
  • · Place courier service mail on top of the regular campus or outgoing mail. This step is essential because it allows the courier to easily identify the pouch to separate it from your department's other mail.
  • · All departments can participate in the courier service with the following restrictions:
    • · No packages over 70 lbs.
    • · No Cash
    • · No Hazardous Materials
    • · No more than 3 large packages per day per department
  • · Have your courier service items ready, along with your Tahlequah campus mail, before your department's daily mail pickup. Courier service items are picked up on the Tahlequah campus at your regularly scheduled pickup/delivery.

Pickup and Delivery

  • · The NSU Courier Service originates on the Tahlequah campus. Items for the Muskogee and Broken Arrow campuses will be delivered the same day. Items picked from NSUM and NSUBA will be delivered the next day. If a department has urgent mail returning to the Tahlequah campus, it can be picked up at the Drop Zone between 4:30 and 5 p.m. the same day.
  • · When the mail delivery person returns to the Drop Zone, courier mail is immediately routed for delivery to the receiving department on the appropriate campus.
  • · Courier service delivery will be between 2 and 4 p.m. Monday - Friday.
  • · Mail arrives in the receiving department the day it's sent, but must then be routed to the appropriate person. That internal routing will not be that same day in all cases, so please allow for this in planning to meet deadlines.
  • · You may also deposit Muskogee or Broken Arrow Campus mail into the Drop Zone Drop Box any time of day. If deposited after 12:30 p.m. that mail will not be delivered until the next day.

Daily Mail Delivery and Pick Up

NSU mail is collected from the Tahlequah Post Office, Monday through Friday except holidays. That mail will be sorted and ready for delivery to the Tahlequah campus departments that same day. When incoming mail is delivered, outgoing mail and inter-campus mail for NSU Broken Arrow and NSU Muskogee will be picked up.

The driver will pick up the mail from the Tahlequah Post Office at 9:15 a.m. He will deliver it back to the Drop Zone around 9:30 p.m. The mail will then be processed and bundled for delivery. The following schedule will be used for delivery to departments on the Tahlequah campus.

There will be only one delivery and pickup area on a first floor location per building.

The mail will be delivered by truck and picked up in the following order:

Helpful Hints

  • · Make sure the mail gets to your department's mail room before Mail Services regular pickup time. In large departments, allow time for your department's internal mail pickup.
  • · Make sure each has a legible address to the receiving department.
  • · Allow time for each campus to process the mail.
  • · Place courier service mail on top of the regular campus or outgoing mail. This step is essential because it allows the courier to easily identify the pouch to separate it from your department's other mail.
  • · Plan ahead. Although Courier Service is an extremely reliable service, no system is perfect. The courier's time at each mail stop is extremely limited in order to stay on schedule.
  • · Don't leave items until the last minute!
