All beginning freshmen are required to enroll in ORIE 1002 (College Strategies) as a part of the first semester class load. This course carries two semester credit hours. The orientation course offers specific information pertaining to campus life and helps students deal with the varied problems which freshmen encounter while beginning their college careers.
All beginning freshmen are advised through the First-Year Experience Center until a major field of study is chosen. When the student has chosen a major field of study, the declaration of major is processed through The First-Year Experience Center for assignment to a major division. After such assignment has been completed, students will go to the College Dean of their major college for assignment to an academic advisor.
