Dear NSU Band Members,

Well summer is officially drawing to a close, and as much as we all might want to fight it, it is time to get going on the next season. Our preseason rehearsals will begin on August 8 for drumline and August 11 for everyone.

Colorguard please note that you will not be coming in early as we had talked about earlier in the summer. Band camp dates are:

• Friday, August 8 Drumline move-in Housing Office 10 am-12pm
• Saturday, August 9 Drumline rehearsal 8-12, 3-6, 7-10
• Sunday, August 10 Drumline rehearsal 8-12, 2-6
• Band move-in Individual Resident Halls 12pm-5pm
• Monday-Friday, August 11-15 Band Camp

During move-in, on Sunday, August 10, I will be available in my office if you or your parents have any questions or would like to stop by and say hello. I would love to meet everyone before we get started on Monday.

For those of you who will be living on campus and have meal plans, a special pre-season meal plan has been provided for you. Meals will be served in the Market Café. On Monday night, the band will be providing a “Getting to Know You” Dinner that all are invited to stay for. Following this meal, we will be heading up to the marching field. On that night, dinner will not be available in the Market Café.

Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday evening activities will be announced. Although these are not mandatory, I encourage you to get out and get to know other band members.

Please remember that this is Oklahoma in August. It will be hot. Although every effort is being made to spend as much time indoors as possible, we do have to spend a considerable amount of time outside. I encourage you to bring individual water bottles, hats, sunscreen, etc. Also, please note that you must have proper footwear to march. You will not be allowed to march in sandals, flip-flops, barefoot, etc. Please plan accordingly.

For those that have not yet returned your shoe and glove order, we will be sending in one final order on the first day of camp. I have enclosed the order form. Please bring it with you along with payment. We will be collecting that on Monday.
