Virgil earned a Bachelor of Arts in Education in 1970 and a Master in Physical Education in 1972. He is the owner and president of Knight Construction in Tontitown, Arkansas. During his time at the University he was on the NSU Football and Track teams. Knight also spent years coaching at Auburn, Florida, Arkansas, and for the Green Bay Packers. He and his wife, Tracie reside in Fayetteville.
