Math Placement
All students entering NSU who have a curricular (based on course work in high school) or skill (based on ACT scores) deficiency must first take the math placement test offered by the FYE Center. Depending on their score, they could be placed in Math 0123 (elementary algebra) or Math 0133 (intermediate algebra) or college level math. Students have the option to re-test once in 30 days.

English Placement
All students entering NSU who have a curricular (based on course work in high school) or skill (based on ACT scores) deficiency must first take the English placement test offered by the FYE Center. Depending on their score, they could be placed in Eng 0123 (developmental English) or English 1113. Students have the option to re-test once in 30 days.

Reading Placement
All students entering NSU who have a curricular (based on course work in High School) or skill (based on ACT scores) deficiency must first take the Reading placement test offered by the FYE Center. Depending on their score, they could be placed in CAI 0122 (fundamentals of reading) or be allowed to enroll in college level coursework.

Broken Arrow Students
Although NSU doesn't provide testing on the Broken Arrow campus, it is still very important to determine if the student has a need for remediation and a plan for remediation if necessary. If a student has never completed a quantitative analysis class in college (college level math, programming, etc), ACT scores will be requested (a 19 in math waives the deficiency). If they never completed a college level math class and don't have ACT scores ... they have a deficiency. Business math is actually considered a college level math class and waives their deficiency but does not satisfy their general education math requirement.

Since Northeastern does not offer zero-level course work at Broken Arrow, they must remediate at Tulsa Community College. Once the student provides proof that they completed Intermediate Algebra or higher, contact the FYE Center.
