Advising Policy at Essentials of Legal and Ethical FERPA |
All new students must receive academic advising upon admission to Northeastern
State University. During a Campus
Connection enrollment session, new students will meet with advisors
to learn about university and departmental requirements, discuss their
educational plans, and select courses. Students who are Undeclared, have no preference or are ineligible to
declare their major are advised by professional advisors in First - Year
Experience (FYE). Students interested in pursuing careers in pre-professional
health, computer science,
engineering, or music should declare their intent as soon as possible to ensure proper advisement.
Students with declared majors are advised in their academic departments
by faculty advisors Upon earning 15 credits and the completion of English Comp I with a grade
of C or better, students are eligible to declare their major with the
FYE office. Students with some majors like education (early
childhood, elementary and special education),
business, and social
work are eligible to declare their majors after the completion of
fifteen hours but, are not eligible for full admission into that program.
During the session with FYE when the student declares their intent, the
advisor and student should: |
