Early registration for the regional summit at Northeastern State University has been extended to Oct. 15.
"Regionalism: a United Voice For a Shared Vision" is Oct. 26-27 in the University Center Sen. Herb Rozell Ballroom. Dr. Ron Cambiano, special assistant to NSU President Don Betz, explained that issues that arose during workshops of last year's summit helped lay the groundwork for a regional plan.
"At this year's summit, we will take the work of these groups and approve and adopt the regional plan," said Cambiano. "We will have speakers who represent the areas of focus. We will also have a legislative breakfast on the second day to facilitate an informal networking between the legislators and their constituents. This will be at a local and national level, because the legislators need to know about our regional needs. This is one way we can give voice to this region and develop a regional perspective."
Founding summit partners are the Sequoyah Adair Cherokee County Empowerment Zone, the Cherokee Nation and NSU, though many other organizations and entities are involved.
Early registration is $50 for general attendance, which includes Tuesday's Networking Breakfast, Wednesday's Legislative Breakfast, lunch both days and the Entertainment Event. Early registration for either day is $25. After Oct. 15, fees will be $75 and $35 respectively.
